Olympus D-435 / C-180 Review

Review Summary
Reader Score: 7.75 (out of 10)
A better quality alternative to the cheap, unfamiliarly-branded cameras you'll see in supermarkets and catalogues. Build quality is excellent, picture quality is acceptable for snapshots and there has never been a digital camera that's so easy to use. Slow performance, no manual functions and the lack of an optical zoom are handicaps making its value mediocre. One for the kids, but splash out more if you want something with greater functionality.

It's not every day you can buy a five megapixel digital camera for around £110 but with the C-180 (D-435 in the U.S.), you can. It has a very simple-to-use ethos thanks to a set of clearly marked 'one button, one function' controls. There's a slide away on/off switch on the front, a shutter button on the top and a set of simple controls on the back plate accompanying the 1.5-ich colour screen.

There are no real surprises with the Olympus C-180 (D-435 U.S.). It is a basic point and shoot digital camera that does the job it sets out to do. It does not have an optical zoom lens and for me this is a big limitation.
